Skomer Trip Cancelled
Our trip to Skomer Island was cancelled by the tour company at 7 am this morning. The second time in two years that it has been cancelled due to poor weather.
The first instance was understandable, the wind was intense.
Today was a complete shock; the weather today has been wonderful.
We were compltely gutted.
However, we were determined to make the most of a bad situation.
We spent the morning in Tenby and visited National Trust’s Tudor Merchant’s House. The CBA Festival of Archaeology started today, and National Trust had put out various artefacts that had been recovered (mostly from the cess pit).
I learned that people used to sleep sitting up!
In the afternoon we went on to our second National Trust property of the day at Colby Woodland Garden. The woodland made for a lovely walk and the walled garden was one of the best I’ve seen at a National Trust property.
I brought my camera along with me for this visit. The birds were pretty elusive. I heard a siskin but didn’t see it.
I managed a couple of nice photos of a damselfly and blackbird though, so I didn’t come away empty handed.
I’m really disappointed we weren’t able to go to Skomer today, but I won’t let it ruin my day.
