Weeknote 9 - 2026-09-05
These weeknotes really do come around quick.
We didn’t go any in particular over the bank holiday. We didn’t feel the need to having had a four-day weekend the week before.
I tried to use a small thunderbolt hub to only have one cable going into my laptop, but it didn’t work. I couldn’t get both monitors to display properly.
I tried to run the monitors using displayport daisy chain, but I don’t think the hub could support the compressed streams.
I then tried to connect directly to each monitor, which the hub claims to support, but the second monitor had terrible screen tearing.
It may have been a Linux issue, and I didn’t want to spend any more time faffing with it, so I returned the hub.
I would probably be able to get it to work with a proper Dell or Lenovo hub, but I’m not spending that much money just to avoid managing two extra cables (not to mention the desk-space that would be taken up with the hub).
I went into the office three times this week. Making the most of the quiet roads. Once the kids go back to school next week, the roads will be busy again.
I ran three times this week - a 10k on Sunday, and 5k on Tuesday and Thursday. As long as I keep this up for the next few weeks, my Vitality 10k on the 27th should be strong.
I’ve started reading The Picture of Dorian Gray (affiliate link). I’m finding the writing style a bit difficult to get into, but I thought the story was interesting, so I will persevere.
I’m really happy with how my ‘AI Assistant’ project is coming along. I am going to deploy it to my homelab and start using it in earnest.
If I get value out of it, I will look at making a version that can be shared.
Ludwig is back with Series 2 on the BBC. Eloise and I have binged the first three episodes and are now waiting for the rest.
OnlyConnect and Taskmaster are back too. This bit of the year is peak telly. Just waiting for Bake Off now.
We’ve also been watching The Crown, and really enjoying it. We’re just over halfway through Series 2.
I’ve been playing a little bit of GTA V on the PlayStation. The teasers for GTA VI got me in the mood. I don’t play many computer games these days, so it made for a nice change.
